A tragic accident claimed the life of 27-year-old Bikas Debnath on Friday morning at the Kumarghat railway station premises. 

Local sources reported that Bikas, a resident of Sukantanagar Ward No. 3 near the railway station, was struck by a freight train and died instantly. 

He was the son of the late Dinesh Debnath.

Eyewitnesses stated that Bikas suffered severe injuries after the accident and collapsed on the spot. The Railway Police and GRP promptly arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to Dharmanagar Hospital for autopsy.

According to locals, Bikas was employed as a laborer and was known in the community as a hardworking and calm-natured individual. 

The incident occurred shortly after Manasa Puja was observed at his residence on Thursday, with neighboring families also conducting pujas.

The sudden accident has plunged the entire area into grief, leaving family members and neighbors mourning the untimely demise of the young man.
