The Tripura Police has issued a traffic advisory in view of the visit of the Hon’ble Union Home Minister of India to Tripura on February 20, 2026.

According to the advisory, there will be temporary restrictions on the movement of all types of heavy vehicles — including buses, trippers, brick carriers, cement carriers, rod carriers, and bamboo carriers — except emergency vehicles. The restrictions will be enforced on the stretch from Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport (MBB Airport) to Amtali Bypass Crossing during the Minister’s visit.

Alternative Routes Announced

To ease congestion and ensure smooth movement, commuters have been advised to use the following alternative routes:

  1. Narayanpur – Narsingarh – Ramnagar – Gandhigram Bazar – Salbagan – Rubber Board – Chanmari.
  2. GB – Indranagar – Dhaleswar – Math Chowmuhani – Jogendranagar – Bypass.
  3. A.D. Nagar – Battala – Fire Service – Ker Chowmuhani – Sankar Chowmuhani – Barjala – Maila Khola via Bharat Ratna Club to MBB Airport.
  4. GB – ILS – SDO Chowmuhani – Nandannagar – Banikya Chowmuhani – Kheyerpur – Amtali – Kheyerpur Bypass – Amtali.

Advisory for Air Passengers

Airport passengers have been requested to carefully plan their journey using the designated alternative routes. Authorities have advised travelers to reach the airport at least three hours prior to departure to avoid inconvenience due to traffic congestion.

Passengers must carry valid air tickets or boarding passes for verification purposes.

The Tripura Police has urged citizens to cooperate with authorities, adhere to traffic regulations, and follow instructions issued during the VIP movement to ensure public safety and smooth conduct of the visit.
