The Tipra Motha Party has made a strong showing in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, winning 8 out of 28 seats so far and leading in 14 others. The BJP has secured 1 seat and is ahead in 5 constituencies.
Vote counting began at 8:00 AM today across 17 centers under tight security. As per election procedures, VVPAT slips were counted first, followed by Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) results after a 30-minute gap.
Polling for the TTAADC elections was held on April 12 and saw a high voter turnout of 83%. A total of 173 candidates contested, representing major parties such as BJP, CPI(M), Congress, Tipra Motha, and IPFT.
According to the State Election Commission, Tipra Motha’s confirmed wins include seats like Simna-Tamakari and Bodhjungnagar-Wakkinagar in West Tripura, Raima Valley and Demchhara-Kachuchhara in Dhalai, Ampinagar, Kathalia-Mirja-Rajapur, and Maharani-Chelagang in Gomati, as well as Pekuarjala-Janmejoy Nagar in Sepahijala district.
Meanwhile, the BJP has won the Machmara seat in Unakoti district and is maintaining a lead in five other constituencies as counting continues.
