The third Regional Board meeting of the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) was held today at the Conference Hall of the Secretariat in New Capital Complex, Agartala, with a focus on strengthening social security and welfare schemes for working people.

The meeting was chaired by Tripura Labour Minister and Chairman of the ESIC Regional Board, Tinku Roy. During the meeting, the minister emphasized the importance of social security and welfare initiatives for workers and reiterated the government's commitment to protecting their rights and livelihoods.

Addressing the gathering, Roy said that ensuring the welfare and security of workers remains one of the government's top priorities. He noted that the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the expansion of ESIC services and review the effective implementation of various welfare schemes.

“The initiatives undertaken for workers’ welfare must be made more dynamic and effective. Along with reviewing the progress of various projects, discussions were also held on strengthening measures aimed at safeguarding workers’ rights and livelihoods,” the minister said.

Among those present at the meeting were Labour Department Secretary Tapas Roy, Labour Commissioner Biswajit Pal, Joint Labour Commissioner Binoy Bhushan Das, and other departmental officials and representatives.

According to sources, the discussions focused on expanding the reach of ESIC benefits, bringing more workers under the ambit of social security coverage, and ensuring the timely delivery of welfare scheme benefits.

The meeting reaffirmed the state government's commitment to building a stronger and more inclusive social security framework for the working population of Tripura.
