A devastating fire gutted three houses at Sardapalli under Kumarghat Municipal Council late last night, causing damages worth millions of rupees and leaving families in distress.
According to reports, the blaze first broke out at the residence of Nirmal Deb, a resident of Ward No. 3. Within a short span, the fire engulfed the adjacent houses of his father, Amar Deb, and neighbour, Krishna Deb. Gold ornaments, cash, important documents, and household items were completely destroyed in the incident.
Upon receiving information, fire service personnel from Kumarghat, along with police and local residents, rushed to the spot. The flames were eventually brought under control, but by then, the houses were reduced to ashes.
This morning, relatives, community members, and representatives from political parties visited the affected families to extend their support. The victims have appealed to the government for immediate financial assistance to rebuild their lives.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
