In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Tripura Police in Churaibari under North District apprehended three individuals and seized a large quantity of cannabis worth Rs 2 lakh during a surprise operation based on confidential information.
According to police sources, a Baleno model car bearing registration number TR05F0432 was intercepted near Gobindapur Krishna Kali Mandir under the Bagbasa Assembly Constituency.
Tripura Police sources said that upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, police recovered 20 kilograms of dry cannabis packed in four separate packets.
The seized contraband is estimated to be worth around Rs 2 lakh in the black market.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ranjit Sinha (34); Surjit Sinha (34) and Shubhrajit Sinha (32).
Police have registered a case against the trio under case number 19/25. The accused produced before the court.
