Agartala Municipal Corporation, with support from the state government, will organize a Swadeshi Mela at Vivekananda Maidan, Agartala, from January 9 to January 11.
The fair will be formally inaugurated by Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha.
This information was shared by Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumder while addressing the media.
Ahead of the fair, Mayor Deepak Majumder visited Vivekananda Maidan to review the preparations. He was accompanied by Municipal Commissioner D.K. Chakma, Deputy Mayor Monika Das Dutta, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Manik Lal Das, and other officials.
After the inspection, the Mayor stated that the Swadeshi Mela is being organized for the first time in the state, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Local for Vocal” initiative. Each day of the fair will feature lectures promoting the use of indigenous products and awareness about Swadeshi values, along with various cultural programs.
The fair will also showcase traditional food stalls representing different communities and tribal groups of the state. Mayor Majumder appealed to the people of the state to visit and enjoy the fair during the winter season and support local products.
