Sports key to eradicating drug menace: Power Minister

Tripura Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath today said that to eradicate the drug menace, sports is the only option.

The Minister said this while inaugurating the final match of Atal Cup Season 2, organized by BJP Mohanpur Mandal today.

The Minister informed that not a single complaint or chaos occurred during the long cricket tournament.

He said that a total of 688 fours and sixes was 1,409 times, and 10 players scored 100, while 46 players scored 50 in this tournament.

“Cricket is now famous across the world. This is not only a sport but also a symbol of emotion, culture, and national unity. From a narrow lane to international stadiums, there is a craze for cricket. Cricket helps to unite people. When the Indian team goes to the field, nobody thinks about who speaks Bengali, Kokborok, English, or Hindi. Forgetting caste, religion, and language, people pray for the Indian team. India has produced many renowned cricket players like Sunil Gavaskar, Farooq Engineer, Chandrasekhar, Sourav Ganguly, and others, and from our state, Manishankar Murasingh, who played 100 Ranji Trophy matches and was declared the best all-rounder in the country,” said the Minister.

The Minister also informed that youths are the future of our nation and the development of a country can be done by them only.

“A country or state’s development depends on them. However, the drug menace is a big threat for us, as it destroys everything. To eradicate the drug menace, sports is the only option. Our main aim is to encourage our youths to be active in sports or other cultural activities. Cricket teaches us how we must fight till the last ball,” said the Minister.
