A Special Protection Group (SPG) team has arrived in Tripura to oversee security arrangements ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state on September 22.
Officials said the elite security team held a series of meetings with senior officers of Tripura Police, central agencies, and administration to review preparedness. They also inspected key venues, routes, and public gathering areas where the Prime Minister is expected to attend programmes.
Though the detailed itinerary is yet to be officially released, sources indicated that PM Modi will not address any event but will inaugurate the redevelopment premises of Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur under Gomati District.
Security has been tightened across Agartala and other strategic locations, with multiple agencies coordinating to ensure smooth conduct of the Prime Minister’s programmes. Senior police officials confirmed that additional forces are being deployed and layered security drills are underway.
This will be Modi’s first visit to Tripura after the 2023 Assembly elections, underlining the Centre’s focus on the region’s political and developmental roadmap.
