Inspector General (Law & Order) Ipper Manchak, IPS, visited South Tripura and reviewed the security arrangements for the upcoming TTAADC Village Committee (VC) Elections 2026 at a meeting with senior police officials and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).
The meeting was attended by the Superintendent of Police, South Tripura, Additional SP, SDPOs and Company Commanders of CAPFs. The officials took stock of the prevailing law-and-order situation and assessed the preparedness of the police and security agencies for the election period.
During the meeting, special attention was given to preventing criminal activities and ensuring a peaceful atmosphere before and during polling. The IG directed the police and security personnel to take firm action against those involved in unlawful activities and maintain a zero-tolerance approach towards attempts to disturb public order or disrupt the electoral process.
Manchak also called for enhanced security measures in sensitive and vulnerable areas. He stressed the importance of preventive action and effective patrolling to ensure the safety of voters and build confidence among the electorate.
The IG further directed all concerned agencies to maintain close coordination and ensure effective deployment of personnel based on local security requirements.
The meeting also assessed the preparedness of the security forces to respond to any emerging challenges during the election period. Officials were instructed to remain alert and ensure that the Village Committee elections are conducted in a free, fair and peaceful environment.
