Public Outrage Erupts in Tripura village; Road Blockade Over Basic Service Failure

Residents of Ward No. 4 under Fakiradola Panchayat under Sepahijala district have been facing severe hardship for the past week due to the complete disruption of electricity and drinking water supply.

Frustrated by the lack of response from authorities despite repeated complaints, locals staged a road blockade on the Sonamura–Boxanagar road.

The protest led to a total halt in vehicular movement along the route, resulting in significant traffic congestion and inconvenience to commuters.

According to the residents, both electricity and water services have remained non-functional for over seven days. Despite informing the concerned departments and local representatives multiple times, no effective action was taken. Expressing their anger, several residents alleged that elected leaders only visit during election periods and fail to address issues afterward.

Upon receiving information about the blockade, local administrative officials and police rushed to the spot.

They initiated discussions with the protestors and assured them of prompt action to resolve the crisis. Following these assurances, the demonstrators eventually withdrew the blockade.
