Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Thursday highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25-year journey in public life, saying that he has devoted the period to the welfare, development and service of the people.
Speaking at a programme at Sataria village organised to mark the Prime Minister’s birthday, Singha Roy said Modi began his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001 and took charge as the Prime Minister of India in 2014.
According to the Finance Minister, over the past 25 years, Modi has undertaken a range of initiatives aimed at improving the lives of people, particularly those at the grassroots and last-mile level. He referred to schemes and programmes related to housing, drinking water, sanitation and food security, including free foodgrain distribution to around 80 crore beneficiaries.
Singha Roy also recalled the country’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting India’s efforts to provide assistance to other countries during the crisis.
He said welfare initiatives under the Modi government have covered various sections of society, including farmers, workers and beneficiaries of healthcare programmes. He also highlighted the Prime Minister’s virtual interactions with beneficiaries, saying that Modi has directly engaged with people at the grassroots and enquired about their families, children, homes, education and access to healthcare.
The Finance Minister said programmes marking the Prime Minister’s 25 years in public service are being organised across the country, from the booth level to the state level.
He said Modi has emphasised that his birthday should not be treated merely as a personal celebration, but as an occasion for undertaking activities dedicated to public service.
At Sataria, where a Shiva temple was established nearly two years ago, Singha Roy joined local residents in offering prayers for the Prime Minister’s health and continued service to the nation.
He said people are also working towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, expressing hope that the country will continue to advance towards the goal of a developed India.
Singha Roy added that special programmes would continue throughout the day, including the lighting of lamps at religious institutions and other prominent places. He said lamps would be lit simultaneously at 7 pm as a gesture of blessings and goodwill for the Prime Minister.
