The newly elected Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council, Runiel Debbarma, on Wednesday said he would work for the welfare of all residents under the council and push for increased financial assistance from both the state and central governments to accelerate development activities.
Along with him, Chandra Kumar Debbarma also assumed charge as an Executive Member (EM) of the council.
After taking oath, Runiel Debbarma stated that he considers it a major responsibility and assured that he would function in a transparent and development-oriented manner for the benefit of the people.
He pointed out that the council continues to operate with limited financial resources and stressed the need to seek additional funds in coordination with elected representatives, including MDCs and MLAs, as well as support from Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma.
Reflecting on his previous experience as an MDC, he said that the last five years have given him valuable insight into public service and governance, which he intends to apply in his new role.
He further added that his priority will be inclusive development across all communities in the ADC areas. He also expressed willingness to engage with representatives across political parties and mentioned plans to gradually introduce Roman script within the council administration.
He concluded by saying that his position today is the result of the trust placed in him by the Tiprasa people, and he remains committed to working for their overall upliftment.
