Tripura SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das on Wednesday expressed confidence that the NDA alliance would secure a decisive victory in the upcoming Village Committee elections, claiming that opposition parties would struggle to win seats.
Das made the remarks while addressing an election campaign meeting in support of a BJP candidate.
Describing the Village Committee election as important for grassroots governance, the Minister said the BJP is contesting the polls as part of the NDA alliance with the Tipra Motha Party and the IPFT.
He said that while alliance coordination remains strong in most areas, there are some constituencies where local-level adjustments have not taken place. Such contests, he said, should be viewed as “friendly fights” among alliance partners.
“We believe that together we will win the NDA candidates for the development of the tribal areas. Wherever the Bharatiya Janata Party has organisational strength, BJP candidates will emerge victorious,” Das said.
He also appealed to alliance partners, including Tipra Motha and IPFT, to secure victories in areas where they have a stronger organisational presence.
Das further claimed that the BJP-led NDA would win the Village Committee elections by a “huge margin.” Referring to the opposition, he used strong political language, describing the CPI(M)-led Left as “anti-national communists” and the Congress as “Pakistan-loving,” while also referring to the Left as the “Chinese party.”
He said he doubted whether these opposition parties would be able to “open their accounts” in the election.
The Village Committee elections are being closely watched as an important grassroots-level contest in the tribal areas of Tripura, with major political parties and regional forces campaigning actively across the state.
