BJP MLAs from Manipur urged BJP NE Cooperation Sambit Patra to reinstate popular government in the state at earliest or else dissolve assembly if central leaders couldn’t.

Yesterday evening BJP MLAs from Manipur are presently at Delhi hold meeting with BJP NE Coordinator Sambit Patra. 

The MLAs comprises of at least 25 BJP MLAs, including former Chief Minister N Biren Singh and the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.

The meeting was held at Manipur Bhawan in New Delhi in which proposal was made to install popular government as soon as possible. 

As per reliable source, popular government would be install before the end of term of present PR which was extended in August. But exact timeframe couldn’t be ascertain however it may form popular government most probably before end of this year. Nevertheless Sambit Patra advised the BJP MLAs to bring a consensus among the Meitei, Naga and Kuki MLAs first to restore an elected Government in Manipur.

Meanwhile some MLAs expressed dissatisfaction over not getting opportunity to meet Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda. 

One of senior leader of BJP Manipur said that due to upcoming Bihar Election MLAs couldn’t meet Amit Shah and BJP president.

Sambit Patra also reportedly indicated that the MLAs can meet party leaders after the Bihar election, implying that meetings with Central leadership are unlikely in the near future.

Notably, Manipur has been under President's Rule since February 13, 2025, following the resignation of the former Chief Minister on February 9.Five State BJP MLAs did not attend the meeting.

The MLAs are Thokchom Radheshyam, Yumnam Radheshyam, S Rajen, Paonam Brojen and Achab Uddin.
