Customs officials in Tripura seized a large consignment of yaba tablets and arrested a youth at Chakmaghat under Teliamura police station in Khowai district on Monday.
The accused has been identified as Md. Mohibullah, a resident of Boxanagar in Sepahijala district. According to sources, he was traveling in a luxury passenger vehicle when officials intercepted it along the Assam-Agartala National Highway, acting on a tip-off.
During the search, officials discovered a specially designed secret chamber inside the fuel tank of the vehicle (bearing registration number T0625TR2378C). From the compartment, nearly 3 kg of yaba tablets were recovered.
The seized narcotics are valued at approximately Rs 3.1 crore in the international market. Mohibullah has been taken into custody, and investigators are working to uncover the wider network behind the cross-border smuggling racket.
