Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath today said that sports is not just a physical exercise, but a philosophy of life.
He also called upon everyone to come forward to make Tripura free from the drug menace.
The Minister said this while addressing the Atal Cup Season 2, organised by Mohanpur Mandal today.
He said that former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who is no longer among us, is being remembered through this tournament.
“Sports is not just a physical exercise, but a philosophy of life. People often say that if you have no disease, you are healthy, but that is not correct. The World Health Organization says that a person who is physically, mentally, socially, and financially healthy is truly healthy. People who are engaged in sports keep themselves healthy. Today in our state, per-capita income has increased, we are getting good drinking water, better healthcare, no scarcity of food, and clean power. But we have one issue, which is drugs. We must get rid of this, and the best policy is sports, music, singing, dance, art, and yoga,” said the Minister.
The Minister informed that the present state government is stressing on this.
“If we can protect our culture, then we will stay far away from drugs. Everyone must take steps to free the state from the drug menace. We must keep ourselves distant from drug peddlers. They are destroying society. Be careful of whoever is engaged in this. Everyone must stop it. Courts will not give bail. The youths of our state are talented, and everyone has to be engaged in extracurricular activities. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that we must become modern without forgetting our traditions,” said the Minister.
The Minister also said that the present government is working for the development of the state.
He said that the CPI(M) ruled the state for 35 years and destroyed it. However, drugs are our main enemy and that everyone must stay away from them.
