India and Bangladesh on Wednesday discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the civil aviation sector, improve air connectivity and expand air cargo capacity between the two neighbouring countries.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi and Bangladesh Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat in Dhaka.
According to the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh, the two sides discussed a wide range of issues, including enhancing bilateral cooperation in civil aviation, improving air connectivity, increasing air cargo capacity, strengthening bilateral working mechanisms and promoting tourism.
The meeting was part of a series of engagements by Trivedi with senior officials of the Bangladesh government aimed at strengthening bilateral ties across various sectors.
On September 13, Trivedi met Zahed Ur Rahman, Advisor for Policy and Strategy to the Bangladesh Prime Minister. The two sides discussed a range of issues concerning India-Bangladesh relations and expressed optimism about further strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Trivedi also met Bangladesh Water Resources Minister Md. Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee on the same day. Minister of State Forhad Hossain Azad was also present during the meeting. Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral engagement to advance the shared aspirations of the people of the two neighbouring countries.
Earlier, on September 9, Trivedi held talks with A.K.M. Shamsul Islam, Advisor to the Bangladesh Prime Minister for the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Division.
The discussions covered various aspects of defence cooperation. Both sides highlighted the longstanding ties between the armed forces of India and Bangladesh and expressed their commitment to further expanding defence-related engagement in mutually beneficial areas.
The latest diplomatic engagements come amid efforts by the two neighbouring countries to strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors, including connectivity, tourism, water resources and defence.
