The Meteorological Centre in Agartala has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall across Tripura between June 16 and June 18, 2025.
This is due to the presence of cyclonic circulations over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and Central Assam, combined with strong southerly and south-westerly winds bringing significant moisture into the region.
Residents are advised to prepare for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds at one or two places across the districts.
On June 16, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Sepahijala and South districts, while a yellow alert has been declared for the remaining districts. The orange alert will be extended on June 17 to include West, Sepahijala, Gomati, and South districts, and is expected to continue until June 18.
Authorities urge caution and preparedness as heavy rainfall may cause localised flooding and disruption in affected areas.
