Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday directed officials to ensure time-bound implementation of investment proposals received following the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026, stressing that investments must translate into employment generation and economic growth.
Dr. Saha said concept notes and detailed project proposals for more than 158 investments have been received and officials of various departments are currently working on them. He directed Secretaries and Directors to prepare 100-day action plans to ground all feasible projects.
The Chief Secretary will conduct monthly reviews of the progress of these projects, he said.
“The huge investment potential that has opened up in Tripura must be implemented quickly and transformed into employment and economic development. Each investment proposal must be implemented within a specific timeframe by setting specific targets,” Dr. Saha said.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a meeting with Secretaries and senior officials of various departments to review the progress of projects for which Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026.
Dr. Saha said the primary objective of attracting investment is to increase the State's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), create new employment opportunities and ensure socio-economic development of the people.
At the meeting, Secretary to the Chief Minister and Secretary of the Industries and Commerce Department Kiran Gitte briefed the Chief Minister on the progress of MoUs, potential sectors for investment and measures to create new opportunities by leveraging Tripura's resources and infrastructure.
Secretaries of various departments apprised the Chief Minister of the status of MoUs and investment proposals, communication with investors, collection of proposals and Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), and steps being taken for project implementation.
According to the Chief Minister, 458 MoUs involving investments of more than Rs 1.30 lakh crore were signed during the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026.
Dr. Saha stressed that Tripura should be promoted as an important investment and industrial destination, with priority given to sectors such as tourism, health, education, skill development, information technology, renewable energy, agriculture and food processing, fish processing, dairy, livestock and EV charging.
He also called for greater focus on developing industries by utilising the State's natural and agricultural resources.
The Chief Minister directed officials to resolve issues related to land, power and infrastructure expeditiously to facilitate project implementation. He also stressed regular communication with investors and stronger inter-departmental coordination, including the appointment of dedicated nodal officers in each department.
Dr. Saha further called for administrative procedures to be made simpler, more transparent and better coordinated to facilitate investors.
“After signing the MoU, its implementation is now one of the government's goals. The concerned departments should play an active role in identifying and resolving the problems of investors quickly and taking the projects forward within the stipulated timeframe,” he said.
