Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha today reiterated the state government’s unwavering commitment to the holistic development of Tripura’s marginal and rural communities.
Chairing the first meeting of the Tripura State Employment Guarantee Council for the financial year 2025–26 at Meeting Room No. 2 of the State Secretariat, the Chief Minister stressed the need for targeted and coordinated initiatives to ensure the effective implementation of development schemes in remote areas.
“The core objective of the state government is to accelerate socio-economic growth in marginal regions. Special plans must be formulated and implemented to ensure that the benefits of development reach every citizen in these areas,” Dr. Saha said.
Highlighting the crucial role of MGNREGA in strengthening the rural economy, Dr. Saha noted that the scheme remains a vital tool for asset creation and employment generation in a state where a large population resides in rural pockets.
“The state is focusing on building permanent infrastructure in rural areas. Hence, coordination among District Magistrates, Community Development Officers, and elected representatives is essential for the successful execution of development programs,” he added.
The Chief Minister also underscored the importance of regular monitoring to ensure quality standards in public works and urged officials to keep public representatives updated on the progress of various projects.
He directed that any obstacles faced during implementation be reported promptly to the concerned public representatives so that timely resolutions can be made.
Among those present at the meeting were Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Finance Minister Pranajit Singharoy, Cooperation Minister Shukla Charan Noatia, Science and Technology Minister Animesh Debbarma, MLAs Kishore Barman, Antara Sarkar Deb, Swapna Majumdar, Shambhu Lal Chakma, and Mailafru Mog, MDC Sanjib Reang, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Rural Development Secretary Abhishek Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. P.K. Chakraborty, secretaries from various departments, the CEO of TTAADC, and the District Magistrates of all eight districts.
