Ex Former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Tuesday dismissed the Trinamool Congress as a “spent force,” claiming the party is effectively finished.

Deb, who currently serves as a co-in-charge for the West Bengal Assembly elections, made the remarks after arriving in Agartala, where he visited the Tripura Sundari Temple to offer पूजा (prayers). He was received by Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury along with a large gathering of supporters.

Addressing reporters later, Deb also spoke about the upcoming re-poll in Falta scheduled for May 21, which had been postponed earlier. He criticized Abhishek Banerjee, alleging that his conduct had disrupted the electoral process.

“His actions have been unreasonable, and such behavior isolates him politically. The party is a gone case,” Deb said.

On his new organizational role, Deb expressed loyalty to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, stating that he is ready to carry out any responsibility assigned to him.

Regarding the question of who will be the next Chief Minister of West Bengal, Deb said that the decision rests with the party leadership, noting that the election process has only recently concluded.
