A high-level delegation from the Election Commission of India (ECI), headed by Principal Secretary N. T. Bhutia, arrived in Tripura today to assess and review the preparedness for the upcoming by-election in the 56-Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency.
The visit is part of the ECI’s standard protocol to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections across the state.
During their stay, the delegation is expected to conduct a thorough evaluation of the entire electoral process, including polling station arrangements, security measures, deployment of staff.
Officials will also inspect the logistical readiness for electronic voting machines (EVMs) and voter-verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) systems, as well as review voter outreach initiatives to encourage maximum participation.
The Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura highlighted that such visits are crucial for identifying potential challenges in advance and ensuring that administrative machinery is fully equipped to handle the by-election efficiently.
The Dharmanagar constituency, being strategically significant in the state’s political landscape, will receive special attention to guarantee a smooth polling process.
