Dharmanagar witnessed a wave of tension during the closing stages of the by-election campaign, following allegations that BJP candidate Jahar Chakraborty blocked the campaign vehicle of Congress candidate Chayan Bhattacharya.

The incident reportedly created a brief disturbance in the area.

According to sources, Bhattacharya’s campaign vehicle was suddenly stopped before the scheduled end of the campaigning period. The Congress candidate spoke out, claiming that the obstruction was a deliberate attempt to hinder their electioneering.

Chayan Bhattacharya stated, “In a democratic process, all parties should have equal rights to campaign. Blocking a campaign vehicle like this is completely unethical and constitutes a violation of election rules.”

Meanwhile, BJP candidate Jahar Chakraborty’s camp has not yet issued any response to the allegations. Although the incident caused some unrest in the locality, reports indicate that the situation was brought under control shortly afterward.
