The opposition CPI(M) in Tripura has stated that the results of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections reflect widespread dissatisfaction with the ruling BJP government.
In a statement, CPI(M) claimed that a significant portion of voters rejected the BJP due to what it described as anti-people policies, authoritarian functioning, corruption, and a lack of genuine commitment to tribal development.
While acknowledging that the Tipra Motha party secured a majority, CPI(M) argued that the outcome does not truly represent the serious administrative failures and economic issues affecting tribal areas over the past five years. According to the party, if voters had focused more on pressing concerns such as corruption, unemployment, food insecurity, poor infrastructure, and inadequate education and healthcare, the results might have been different.
The statement further alleged that real livelihood issues were overshadowed during the elections by the rise of identity-based sentiments. CPI(M) also accused both BJP and Tipra Motha of attempting to influence voters through financial means.
Admitting its own shortcomings, CPI(M) said it failed to increase its vote share and emphasized the need for internal review. The party stressed that it would work on strengthening its organization and intensifying movements around key public issues.
The CPI(M) leadership also thanked voters who supported the Left Front despite pressure and inducements and called on all citizens to maintain peace and harmony across the state.
