A husband and wife were seriously injured after a bear attacked them while they were clearing a rubber plantation at Panjeeya Mag Para under Birendranagar ADC Village in Jolaibari Assembly constituency on Sunday morning.
The injured couple have been identified as Aongsaphai Mog and his wife Aongsano Mog, residents of Mag Para. According to local sources, the couple had gone to a rubber garden located near their home to carry out cleaning work when a bear suddenly emerged and attacked them.
Both were injured in the attack, with Aongsaphai Mog reportedly sustaining more serious injuries. His wife also suffered injuries but is said to be in comparatively stable condition.
Hearing their cries, local residents rushed to the spot and rescued the couple. They were subsequently taken to Shantirbazar District Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
The incident has caused concern among residents of the area, particularly those working in rubber plantations close to forested areas. Locals have urged people to remain alert and take necessary precautions while entering plantations or areas near forests.
