With the Tripura Village Committee elections scheduled for September 28, the BJP’s central and state leadership held a high-level organisational meeting in Agartala on Wednesday to review preparations and chalk out an electoral strategy.

The meeting brought together senior BJP leaders, including National General Secretary (Organisation) B. L. Santosh, National General Secretary and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, North East Coordinator Dr. Sambit Patra, Co-Coordinator Rajib Babbar, State In-charge Dr. Rajdeep Roy, Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee and State BJP President Abhishek Debroy.

The discussions primarily focused on strengthening the party’s organisational network, improving grassroots-level outreach and preparing workers for the upcoming Village Committee elections.

Speaking after the meeting, Chief Minister Manik Saha said the party discussed its organisational priorities, future programmes and strategies for engaging more closely with the people.

“Detailed discussions were held on strengthening the organisation and increasing our engagement with the people of Tripura,” Saha said.

He said that since the election schedule for the Village Committees has already been announced, the party has intensified its organisational activities at the grassroots level.

Saha said the BJP would focus on strengthening its cadre base and addressing issues faced by people in different areas. He stressed that Village Committee elections involve local issues and that party workers must remain connected with the people and work towards resolving their day-to-day problems.

“We have to earn the trust and confidence of the people by addressing their problems and remaining connected with them,” the Chief Minister said.

Former Chief Minister and BJP National General Secretary Biplab Kumar Deb said the meeting reviewed the party’s preparedness for the Village Committee polls and a detailed blueprint was prepared.

“Our team will work according to the blueprint. Every election is important for us, whether it is big or small,” Deb said.

He also said the presence of B. L. Santosh in Tripura reflected the importance the party attaches to issues concerning the Janajati community.

“A detailed discussion was held on these matters, and I hope our karyakartas will work with full commitment,” Deb added.

The BJP is now expected to intensify its grassroots campaign and organisational activities across Tripura ahead of the September 28 Village Committee elections.
