In a major breakthrough, Banderdewa Police busted an inter-state bike-lifting racket and recovered three stolen two-wheelers while apprehending four accused.

During naka checking between 12 midnight and 6 a.m. at the Banderdewa check gate, a Yamaha R15 rider sped past without halting, while a scooty (AS12AK5904) was seized for lack of valid documents. A Royal Enfield Hunter (AS07Z0946) also made a suspicious U-turn near the naka point.

The scooty rider, identified as Nobo Gohain alias Nobo Hussain of Sootea (Assam), was later detained. On interrogation, he confessed to being part of a bike-lifting gang and revealed the identity of his associates. Acting swiftly, police recovered the abandoned Royal Enfield Hunter near DTNT petrol pump.

Based on leads, police detained Marli Gadi (19) of Seijosa, Arunachal Pradesh, and Md. Ricky Ahmed (25) of Biswanath, Assam. Further interrogation led the team to Hawaijan, Assam, where a stolen Yamaha R15 (AR05A-0990) was recovered from Pradyup Bhuyan (22) of Sootea, who was also apprehended.

With this, police recovered three stolen bikes — two Yamaha R15s and one Royal Enfield Hunter — and arrested four accused. The case has been handed over to Naharlagun Police, where a theft complaint was already registered. Officials said more recoveries are likely as interrogation continues.
