An IndiGo flight from Dibrugarh to Guwahati carrying Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was diverted to Agartala’s Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport on Sunday due to bad weather conditions in Guwahati.

An official from MBB Airport confirmed that the aircraft landed safely in Agartala after being unable to proceed to Guwahati because of inclement weather.

Soon after receiving the news, Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury rushed to the airport to meet the Assam Chief Minister.

“When I got the news that the Guwahati-bound plane of the Honorable Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma Ji, had to make an emergency landing at Agartala Airport due to bad weather in Guwahati, I rushed to the airport and spent some time with him,” Chowdhury said.

Flight operations at Guwahati airport were reportedly affected for some time due to adverse weather conditions.
