The meeting was held at the AMC conference hall and was chaired by Mayor Dipak Majumder. Senior officials from various departments, along with elected representatives and councillors, attended the meeting.

With the city expected to witness a substantial increase in footfall and vehicular movement during Durga Puja, the meeting focused on strengthening essential civic services, including sanitation, drinking water supply, street lighting, drainage, roads and traffic management.

Mayor Dipak Majumder reviewed the prevailing situation in different parts of the city and stressed the need to ensure adequate civic facilities, particularly around puja pandals, crowded areas and locations expected to witness large gatherings.

Officials and field-level workers were directed to work in close coordination to maintain cleanliness before and during the festivities, ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply and drainage services, and address problems related to roads and streetlights promptly. Traffic management measures will also be undertaken wherever required to facilitate smooth movement of people and vehicles.

Councillors and officials were asked to regularly monitor civic services in their respective areas and take immediate action if any problem is reported.

Speaking at the meeting, Mayor Dipak Majumder said that the Sharadiya festival belongs to everyone and the civic body would make every effort to ensure that civic issues do not disrupt the festive spirit.

“People’s convenience and safety are our top priorities. Civic services will be managed accordingly throughout the festival days,” the Mayor said.

The meeting also reviewed various aspects of Puja preparations and the management of civic services during the festivities. Emphasis was placed on strengthening coordination among officials, field workers and elected representatives to keep Agartala clean, well-maintained and citizen-friendly throughout Durga Puja.
