Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha visited the fire-affected area at Office Line in Agartala on Tuesday, where a late-night blaze on Monday gutted six shops and a club.

During his visit, the Chief Minister met affected shop owners and local residents, assessed the extent of damage, and assured full support from the state government and district administration. He expressed sympathy for the victims, noting that the incident had severely impacted their livelihoods.

Speaking to reporters, Dr. Saha said the fire was suspected to have been caused by a short circuit, though the exact cause would be confirmed only after a proper investigation. “What has happened is very unfortunate. We have spoken to the affected people, and all possible assistance will be provided,” he said.

He added that around seven establishments were destroyed in the fire. “An assessment has already been conducted. Both government support and personal assistance will be extended. Restoration work may take about a month. These shops have been running for nearly 40 years,” he said.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by the District Magistrate and Collector of West Tripura, Dr. Vishal Kumar, Superintendent of Police (West) Namit Pathak, and senior officials from the police and Sadar sub-divisional administration.
