Tripura Police in Madhupur of Sepahijala district seized approximately 43 kilograms of dry cannabis from a passenger auto-rickshaw during a joint operation on the Rastar Matha–Kamalasagar road and detained the driver.
According to sources, officers from Madhupur Police Station and the Detective Department conducted a coordinated operation near the Steel Bridge adjacent to Madhupur West Market.
Acting on suspicion, the team intercepted an auto-rickshaw traveling at high speed from the Rastar Matha–Harishnagar area toward Konaban.
The driver, identified as Uttam Deb of Harishnagar, allegedly displayed suspicious behavior, prompting police to stop and search the vehicle. During the search, officers discovered nearly 43 kg of dry cannabis carefully concealed inside the rear engine compartment of the auto-rickshaw.
The accused driver has been taken into custody, and police are preparing to register a case against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
