In a significant anti-drug operation, Tripura Police, in coordination with the 81st Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the 11th Battalion of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR), seized 362.100 kg of dry ganja from a forested area in Kamalnagar Ghatighar under Sepahijala district.

The seizure was made in a forest area near a border village adjacent to Bangladesh. Acting on confidential information, a joint search operation was launched by personnel from Sonamura Police Station, BSF, and TSR. The operation continued from 12:30 AM to 5:30 AM, during which 11 plastic drums containing the contraband were recovered.

According to Sonamura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tapas Das, the seized cannabis was taken into police custody after completing all required legal procedures. The estimated market value of the recovered ganja is around Rs 72.40 lakh.

Police have started an investigation to trace the individuals involved in storing and trafficking the illegal substance. Further action will be taken based on the outcome of the probe.

The joint operation by Sonamura Police Station, 81 BN BSF, and 11 BN TSR highlights the continued efforts of security agencies to prevent illegal drug activities in the region.
