Officer-in-Charge of Sonamura Police Station, Tapas Das, today informed that during a routine patrolling duty at Sobhapur area near the Indo-Bangla border fence, police recovered and seized 20 kilograms of dry ganja.

He said that the contraband was wrapped with cellotape and found abandoned. After observing all legal formalities, the ganja was seized as unclaimed property.

Police said the approximate market value of the seized narcotics in the destination market would be around Rs 3 lakh.

Sonamura Police Station has initiated an investigation to identify the individuals involved in smuggling the illegal consignment.
