French Tourist allegedly rape in Udaipur, accused on the run

A French national has alleged rape by a man she met at a café party in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt for the accused, who is currently absconding.

According to officials, the incident occurred on Monday evening after the tourist, who arrived in Udaipur from Delhi on June 22, attended a gathering at The Greek Farm Cafe and Restro at Tiger Hill.

There, she met the accused—identified as Siddharth—who allegedly invited her out under the pretext of showing her scenic spots.

As per the FIR, the man took her to his rented apartment in Sukher despite her repeated requests to return to her hotel. Once there, he allegedly forced himself on her. With her phone battery drained, the woman was unable to call for help. Later, she admitted herself to a private hospital, where she is receiving treatment and is reported to be out of danger.

Badgaon Police Station SHO Purna Singh Rajpurohit confirmed that an FIR has been lodged and efforts are underway to trace the accused.

Officials stated that the French embassy has been notified and all necessary assistance is being provided to the survivor.
