Public anger erupted in the Kachuchhara region under Kamalpur on Thursday morning after residents staged a road blockade protesting a continuous power outage lasting nearly 10 days.
Locals from Bhim Shabar Para blocked the busy Salema–Ambassa Road near the Kachuchhara market by burning tyres and sitting on the roadway. Protesters alleged that despite repeated complaints to the electricity department, no effective action was taken to restore electricity in their area.
The blockade brought traffic on the route to a complete standstill, causing significant disruption for commuters and leading to long traffic jams across the stretch.
Police from Kachuchhara Police Station reached the spot soon after being informed and worked to calm the situation. After assurances from the administration that the power issue would be addressed promptly, the protesters eventually withdrew their blockade.
However, residents warned that if electricity supply is not restored without further delay, they will intensify their agitation in the coming days.
