Tripura University has added another feather to its cap as Dr. Farhana Yasmin Rahman, a former Ph.D. scholar from the Department of Physics' Thinfilms Nanoscience Laboratory, has received international recognition for her groundbreaking work in sustainable electronics.

Working under the guidance of Prof. Syed Arshad Hussain, Dr. Rahman developed eco-friendly electronic memory devices using natural plant extracts as part of her doctoral research. Her study demonstrated that extracts from commonly available plants such as lotus, rose, and drumstick (sajna) can be utilized to fabricate low-cost, biodegradable memory devices, offering a sustainable alternative for future electronic technologies alongside conventional silicon-based systems.

In recognition of this innovation, Dr. Rahman has been awarded a German patent, reflecting the global significance of her research and highlighting Tripura University's growing contribution to advanced materials science and green technology.

Further strengthening her academic achievements, Dr. Rahman has been selected for a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan. As part of the institute's Ionic Device Group, she will undertake advanced research on transistor-based neuromorphic devices, contributing to the development of next-generation computing technologies inspired by the human brain.

Tripura University described the achievement as a testament to the institution's expanding global research footprint and the pioneering work carried out at the Thinfilms Nanoscience Laboratory under the leadership of Prof. Syed Arshad Hussain in the fields of sustainable electronics and emerging materials research.
