A 26-year-old man, identified as Tapan Debbarma, was found dead inside his home in the Jumia area under Ramshankar ADC Village, Simna constituency. The family has alleged that he was murdered.
According to family members, the incident occurred late last night when Tapan was allegedly severely beaten at the Ramshankar ADC Village office area. They claimed that Pranab Debbarma and his associates from the locality carried out the assault, leaving him severely injured at the spot before fleeing.
The family further stated that the same group later informed them to rescue him. He was brought home around 10 PM in a critically injured condition and reportedly went to sleep afterward. However, at around 9 AM the next morning, the family discovered that he had died.
Following the death, the family alleged that Pranab Debbarma again threatened them, warning them not to disclose the incident to anyone.
Police from Sidhai and Sundar Tilla outpost, along with the Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ashish Dasgupta and a forensic team, reached the spot and launched an investigation.
A brother of the deceased claimed that Tapan was beaten to death, pointing out visible injury marks on his face, forehead, chest, and other parts of his body.
The family has decided to file a murder case. No arrests have been made so far.
The body has been sent to the Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.
