An elderly woman, identified as Padma Chakraborty, was found dead inside her residence in the Madhya Bhubanban area of Agartala on Friday, triggering concern among local residents.

According to reports, neighbours discovered her body inside the house and promptly alerted the police. Officers from the West Women police Station reached the spot soon after, and a forensic team was also called to assist with the investigation. The experts collected evidence and conducted an initial examination at the scene.

Locals said that the woman lived alone in her house. On Thursday evening, her front door was found open, and upon entering, residents discovered her lying lifeless inside.

A local resident mentioned that he had visited her earlier in the day to check on her health and found her unwell. As she was known to suffer from ongoing health problems, no immediate concern was raised at the time.

The cause of death has not yet been determined. Police stated that the exact reason will be confirmed after the post-mortem report is received. Investigations are currently in progress.
