A felicitation programme was held at Dasharath Sangduk Hukumu Noke in Suparibagan, Agartala, to honour athletes who have brought recognition to Tripura at the national and international levels.

The event was attended by Bikash Debbarma, Minister of Tribal Welfare Department, along with TICR Director Ratnajit Debbarma, Rumarudra Pal, and DDO Nabakumar Debbarma.

Speaking to the media, Minister Bikash Debbarma said that the government is encouraging youth to participate in sports in order to keep them away from addiction and harmful activities. He stated that the Tribal Welfare Department has taken several special initiatives for boys and girls so that they can progress in the field of sports.

The minister added that athletes from Tripura are consistently earning recognition and bringing pride to the state through their performances at national and international platforms.

During the programme, financial assistance and awards were distributed to outstanding sportspersons. A total of 47 athletes who achieved success at the international level received Rs 60,000 each, while 49 national-level achievers were awarded Rs 40,000 each. Additionally, three individuals received special awards of Rs 17,000 each.
