A tragic drowning incident claimed the life of a Class X student at Jagannath Dighi in Udaipur on Sunday afternoon, leaving the town in shock and mourning.

The deceased was identified as Debajit Dey, a Class X student. According to reports, Debajit had gone to Jagannath Dighi along with five of his classmates. At around 3 pm, the group entered the pond to take a bath. However, Debajit suddenly went missing after being swept into deeper water.

After receiving the information, officials from the Udaipur Sub-Divisional Administration and personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services Department reached the spot and launched a search operation.

Following an extended search, rescuers managed to recover Debajit’s body from the pond. He was subsequently rushed to Gomati District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The incident has triggered widespread shock and grief across Udaipur, with residents expressing deep sorrow over the untimely death of the young student.
