In the aftermath of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Home Minister Amit Shah has instructed all Chief Ministers to identify Pakistani nationals residing in their states and take swift action for their deportation.
This directive comes after the Modi government announced a series of diplomatic measures against Pakistan in response to the horrific attack that claimed the lives of 26 tourists in the Baisaran meadows of Pahalgam on April 22.
In a conversation with the Chief Ministers, the Home Minister emphasized the urgency of identifying and sending back Pakistani nationals, urging them to ensure the return of these individuals at the earliest.
On Wednesday, the Indian government revoked the visas of all Pakistani nationals, giving them a deadline of April 27 to comply with the directive. However, medical visas granted to Pakistani citizens will remain valid until April 29.
This move follows India's five-step diplomatic offensive aimed at isolating Pakistan internationally. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has also firmly accused Pakistan of orchestrating the terrorist attack, which is considered one of the most brutal in recent memory.
The government has vowed to expose Pakistan’s involvement on the global stage.
In addition to the visa cancellations, the government has implemented a five-point action plan, including the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, closure of the Attari-Wagah border, declaring Pakistani defense advisors as persona non-grata, and significantly reducing mission staff on both sides.
The terror attack in Pahalgam, carried out by heavily armed terrorists, left 26 people dead, including one Nepali national. Disturbing social media footage showed the attackers armed with sophisticated weapons, and survivors shared chilling accounts of the terrorists singling out and executing men at point-blank range.
