Extensive security arrangements are being made at the revered Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur, Gomati district, ahead of the three-day Diwali festival scheduled from November 8 to 10, as the administration anticipates a significant rise in the number of devotees and visitors this year.
Gomati District Superintendent of Police Anirban Das said the annual festival attracts thousands of devotees every year, but this time the footfall is expected to be almost double compared to last year, owing to several special attractions planned for the celebrations.
One of the major highlights of this year's festival will be a spectacular drone show on November 8, organised under the initiative of the Gomati District Magistrate. More than 500 drones are expected to light up the night sky, creating various colourful formations and visual displays for visitors.
Considering the anticipated surge in crowds, the district police have drawn up an extensive security blueprint to ensure that the festival passes off peacefully. Around 2,200 security personnel, including police, Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and plainclothes personnel, will be deployed across the temple premises and adjoining areas.
“We are expecting a substantial increase in the number of visitors this year. Keeping this in mind, comprehensive security arrangements have been made, and around 2,200 security personnel will be deployed to manage the situation,” SP Anirban Das said.
He added that special measures would be taken to regulate the movement of devotees, manage crowds and maintain law and order throughout the three-day celebrations.
The police have also decided to strengthen surveillance to prevent any untoward incidents during the festival. A dedicated team is being constituted to identify and monitor potential troublemakers and take prompt action against anyone attempting to create disturbances.
The SP said the primary objective was to ensure that devotees could visit the temple and offer prayers without facing inconvenience, while allowing visitors to enjoy the festivities in a safe and peaceful atmosphere.
